Roofing materials littered the yard. The storm blew off part of Adams’ roof! A few shingles actually landed across the street, beyond the trucks.
The shingles were blown by a northwesterly wind, while the wind that toppled the billboard only a short distance away was clearly southwesterly. The wind shear must have occurred right over the Adams building!
Our apartment is located upstairs in the same building. When the phenomenon passed over, Wendi and Joe saw the dark sky light up (probably from numerous lightning strikes), and a loud roar was heard from the high winds. The building shook for several seconds. It was horrifying. When it was over, they looked outside and saw the damage.
